What is Dr. Pepper Made Of??
Well, this seems like a strange question..but one
of the kids in the practise asked me and I promised I'd try to
find out...here are the results of my searching...
Dr Pepper is the oldest major soft drink in the U.S.
It was first made and sold in 1885 in Morrison's Old Corner Drugstore
in Waco, Texas. It was named after Dr. Charles Pepper who was supposedly
was the father of the girl the drugstore owner - Wade Morrison
- was in love with.
Dr. Pepper was introduced to millions at the St..Louis
World Fair of 1904, where it was a huge success.
Rumours abound that Dr. Pepper is a Coke™ or
Pepsi™ product. Not true. It was solely owned until 1986
when it merged with the Seven-Up™. These were both acquired
by Cadbury Schweppes in 1995.
The known ingredients are: Carbonated Water, High
Fructose Corn Syrup and/or Sugar, Caramel Color, Phosphoric Acid,
Artificial and Natural Flavors Sodium Benzoate (Preservative),
Caffeine
Nutrition Facts:
150 Calories
55mg Sodium
40g Sugar
Obviously the actual spices and flavourings are a
secret..but notice they list artificial first? That's because there
are more artificial one than natural.
To look at the rest of the ingredients, I really
can't image why anyone would drink this or any other soda. 40 grams
of sugar???? That's abouu 10 - 11 teaspoons...would you actually
sit down and eat that much sugar from a bowl? Of course not..but
you do when you drink these chemical cocktails.
And the artifically sweetened ones...don't get me started!
Caramel colour has been associated with all kinds
of health problems including lowering of sperm count in men...lovely....
So, armed with more information, I have made the
child who asked the question and his parents aware of the negative
aspects of this and other sodas..in hopes of encouraging the change
of habits to organic juice, cut with a good quality water..in the
name of health, nutrition and longevity of our kids.

Homeopathic Treatment for Children

Non Toxic Flu Prevention and Treatment
I suppose the issue of the season is flu prevention
and non-toxic treatment for viral/bacterial infection.
As many of you know, we have been using the Dolisos
