Huperzia Serrata:
Huperzia Serrate or Qian Ceng's active ingredient - Huperzine A (HupaA) has shown in recent research to be a very exciting new cognitive enhancement product.
What makes HupA so exciting is that is is a unique, nontoxic and highly sleective, reversible inhibitor of Acetylcholinesterase (AChE), which is the enzyme that breaks down Acetylcholing (ACh)(the neurotransmitter responsible for selective attention, verbal and spatial memory). This enzyme needs to be lowered in aging as the amount of the neurotransmitter we make (ACh) lowers with age
Drugs used for Alzheimer's such as Cognex, Pygostimine and Aricept work the same way, but unfortunately are not as selective in just working on AChE and in working on other enzymes, cause side effects such as sweating, nausea, vomiting, tearing eyes and liver toxicity.
HupA also has a neuro-protective effect on the brain.
Vinpocetine:
Vinpocetine, an alkaloid found in the periwinkle plant, is a widely researched cerebral metabolic enhancer and neuroprotector, having been evaluated in over 100 clinical studies. It has been shown to:
(a) - slecetively improve cerebral circulation and utilization of glucose and oxygen without alterations in systemic circulation, thereby improving ATP (your energy molecule) production.
(b) - increase brain tolerance to hypoxia (lack of oxygen) and sluggish blood flow.
(c) - have anticonvulsant activity
(d) - increase circulation by decreasing the activity of the enzyme phosphodiesterase (similar activity as Viagra)
(e) - decrease thrombocyte aggregation and therefore clot formation.
(f) - acts like an antioxidant in it scavengers hydroxyl radicals (one type of free radical)and reduces cellular toxicty in nerve cells.
The total effect, then of Vinpocetine is that it is a powerful enhancer of mental function, which "attenuates cognitive deficits" and "induces long-term memory potentiation". It also showed significant improvements on the Sternberg Memory Scanning Test, which measures
short-term memory retrieval and high-speed scanning ability. these improvements manifested in only three (3) days!
Cytidine Diphosphate Choline:
A more effective phospholipid than phosphatidyl serine or choline for the production of acetylcholine the needed neurotransmitter to enhance brain function.

Acetyl-L-Carnitine:
Acetyl L-Carnitine (ALC) is a cognitive enhancer and neuroprotective agent that protects against a wide range of age-related degenerative changes in the brain and nervous system.
ALC is found in various concentrations in the brain and its levels are significantly reduced with aging. ALC also significantly reduces damaged fats, such as lipofuscin, in the brains of aged rats. In addition to accumulating in the aging brain, lipofuscin also accumulates in the skin as "aging spots," those brownish pigmented blemishes that accumulate in the backs of hands of many people over fifty. The reduction of these deposits following consumption of ALC may be evidence of a slowing in the aging process in the brain.
ALC also has the ability to cross into the brain where it acts as a powerful antioxidant, preventing the deterioration of brain cells that normally occurs with age. Because of this protective effect, ALC may be beneficial in the prevention and treatment of free-radical mediated diseases, such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease and other age related cognitive dysfunction.
Bacopa:
Bacopa monniera or "Brahmi", is a highly reputed nerve tonic in the Ayruved literature. Extractions have been shown to improve acquisition and retention, and delay extinction of
newly acquired behavioural responses in test animals. It has also been helpful with anxiety neurosis, concentration and short-term memory span, while improving work output, and decrease error rate,
and mental fatigue.
L-Pyroglutamic Acid:
Normally L-PCA is present in large amounts in the human brain, cerebrospinal fluid and blood. It is known to have a number of remarkable cognitive-enhancing effects.
After oral administration, L-PCA passes into the brain through the blood-brain barrier and stimulates cognitive functions. It improves memory and learning and has an anti-anxiety effects in testing.
It has very positive effects on increasing attention, improving short-term retrieval, long-term retrieval and long-term storage of memory.
Dosage:
The optimal dosage is highly variable from one individual to the next. Begin with one capsule daily on an empty stomach and increase to personal optimal level.
