OLIVE LEAF EXTRACT:
Olive Leaf Extract (Standardized for 15% Oleuropein) which is the active ingredient,
is derived from the leaves of the olive tree and contains phenolic compounds,specifically oleuropein,that have demonstrated potent antimicrobial,antioxidant,and vasodilatory effects.Oleuropein has also demonstrated some anti-inflammatory properties inhibiting the in vitro oxidation of low density lipoprotein.In addition,both oleuropein and hydroxytyrosol,another phenolic constituent,are potent scavengers of superoxide radicals and inhibitors of respiratory burst in neutrophils.
Oleuropein has been reported in the science literature to have positive effects on: Chronic fatigue, Flu and colds, herpes, HIV, rheumatoid arthritis, fungus and yeast infections, bacterial infections, skin conditions, tropical illness and diabetes. It is anti-viral and anti-bacterial.
Research suggests that the elanoic acid derivative of oleuropein has potent antimicrobial effects against a variety of microorganisms In the case of retroviruses, elanoic acid neutralizes production of reverse transcriptase and protease, enzymes essential for altering the RNA of healthy cells. Research has also shown oleuropein constituents are effective against herpes, influenza,and coxsackie viruses, as well as some fungi, yeast, bacteria,and parasitic protozoans. Oleuropein may also inhibit microbial infections via the direct stimulation of phagocytosis.
